As usual, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra is expected to perform a grand concert at the peak of summer. This time, on August 23, the orchestra invites you to a special concert dedicated to the music of maestro Raimonds Pauls in two concerts - at 3 pm and 8 pm - at the Liepāja Concert Garden “Pūt, vējiņi!”.
Together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Andris Veismanis the singers Ance Krauze, Daumants Kalniņš, Dināra Rudāne and Ralfs Eilands.
The music of Raimonds Pauls is an integral part of Latvian culture. His melodies are known to everyone, they have been played in countless concerts, theater performances, films, and even ballet performances.
The concert will reveal the diversity of creative work of Raimonds Pauls. The audience will hear such pieces as “Zilais karbunkulis”, “Genoveva” and “Mirdzošais gliemežvāks”, and also “Mēmā dziesma”, “Es aiziet nevaru” and “Liepājai”.
With Uldis Marhilēvičs as the soloist, Raimonds Pauls' Rhapsody for piano and orchestra will also be performed, while Oskars Petrauskas' poignant saxophone solo will play the melodramatic, well-known motif from the multi-series feature film “The Long Road in the Dunes”.
In the “Pūt, vējiņi!” Concert Garden Andris Veismanis will take the place at the conductor's desk of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. The symphonic arrangements of popular songs have been specially created for this concert programme by Emīls Zilberts, whose sophisticated sense of orchestral sound is already known to music lovers from the concert programmes such as “ImKa un Kaspars Zemītis” and “Mārtiņš Brauns. Dziesma par spēli”.
At the end of August, when somewhere far away silver-feathered migratory birds are slowly preparing for their journey to the distant southern lands, don’t you wish to take that last plunge into the silvered water, to seize the moment and fill your heart with that fading sense of summer…
