On October 24, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will return to the White Hall of Rundāle Palace with a program featuring music by the Viennese Classical masters. This concert continues the orchestra’s musical collaboration with conductor Atvars Lakstīgala and Lithuanian pianist Kasparas Uinskas—a partnership that has already yielded an internationally acclaimed album of Chopin piano concertos. While Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 will take center stage, the program will also feature works by Mozart and Haydn.

This autumn, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra invites audiences to Rundāle Palace for an encounter with three great masters of the Viennese Classical tradition: Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Each left a unique and lasting mark on the history of music, and on this evening, listeners will embark on a fascinating journey through three distinct yet interconnected musical worlds, ranging from nobility and magnanimity to the power of human emotion and the joy of harmonious living.

Although they first shared the stage in 2013 at the Piano Stars Festival in Liepāja—followed by a joint concert two years later in the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius—a closer collaboration between Kasparas Uinskas, Atvars Lakstīgala, and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra began in 2025 with performances of Frédéric Chopin’s piano concertos at the "Lielais dzintars" concert hall in Liepāja and the Vilnius Philharmonic, eventually culminating in the release of recordings of the First and Second Piano Concertos by the label Hänssler Classics.

The album has garnered attention from the international classical music press. MusicWeb International highlights the lyricism, virtuosity, and live-concert energy of Uinskas’ interpretation, describing the Second Concerto as one of the best recordings of the work the reviewer has heard, while the French publication ARTAMAG’ emphasizes the pianist’s tonal richness and rhythmic vitality, as well as the outstanding performance by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. Meanwhile, the German magazine Piano News specifically highlights Uinsk’s “singing quality,” romantic depth, and harmonious dialogue with the orchestra.

The concert in Rundāle marks the next chapter in this collaboration—one rooted not merely in individual performances, but in an ever-deepening musical understanding. Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, in particular—a work where the dialogue between soloist and orchestra becomes especially intense—seems a natural continuation of what Uinskas, Lakstīgala, and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra have already explored together in the music of Chopin.

“Working with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and Atvars Lakstīgala has always felt remarkably natural to me. Atvars is a musician I deeply respect and admire – we share a very similar emotional relationship with music, and there is a rare sense of mutual understanding and trust whenever we work together,” says Kasparas Uinskas.

“I have the same admiration for the dedication and exceptional work ethic of the orchestra. Our recording of both Chopin Piano Concertos, which received international critical acclaim, was an important milestone in our collaboration, and I feel that with every project we continue to grow together. I am very much looking forward to meeting again at Rundāle Palace and entering the powerful and dramatic world of Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto together.”

Tickets for the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra concerts can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices.

The concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
