On September 4, at 6:30 PM, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will perform at the St. Archangel Michael Basilica in Marijampole, Lithuania, where, together with the Lithuanian State Choir "Vilnius", they will open the 6th International Classical Music Festival "Culture Days 2026" by performing Ludwig van Beethoven's monumental Ninth Symphony.
This concert will be a special event in the orchestra's creative work, as it will be the first collaboration with the Lithuanian State Choir "Vilnius", as well as with conductor Marius Reklaitis and soloists Karolīna Glinskaite (soprano), Nora Petročenko (mezzo-soprano), Egidijus Bavikinas (tenor) and Liudas Mikalauskas (bass). This is also the first performance of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra in Marijampolė.
Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, with its famous finale "Ode to Joy", is one of the most significant opuses in the history of Western music. The piece's powerful musical architecture and human message of unity, freedom and hope have not lost their relevance to this day. A performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony of this scale in Marijampolė will become a significant cultural event and a unique opportunity for the region's listeners to experience the monumental power of symphonic and choral music in person.
The International Classical Music Festival "Culture Days" organized by the Marijampole Philharmony will take place in Marijampole and the Sūduva region from September 4 to 24, purposefully strengthening the availability of high-quality art and creating a meeting space for internationally recognized performing artists.
