On Friday, December 15, at 7 p.m. in the White Hall of Rundāle Palace the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will perform together with Lithuanian soprano Lina Dambrauskaite under the direction of Lithuanian conductor Modestas Barkauskas.
She will replace the Latvian soprano Gunta Gelgote, who will not be able to perform due to illness.
In March of 2022 Lina was awarded with the Golden Cross of the Stage - the most important and honourable performing arts awards in Lithuania - for her performances as Marie in La fille du Regiment and Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.
In 2015 she made her operatic debut as Barbarina in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. Lina also sang the role of Thais in Handel's Alexander's Feast, Yniold in Debussy's Pellėas et Mėlisande (Vilnius City Opera). She performed in Germany, Italy, South Korea, China and represented Lithuania at the Universal Exposition “Expo 2015“ held in Milan.
In 2017 Lina made her London debut as Zerlina in Royal Academy Opera’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
Liepāja Symphony Orchestra's concert program remains unchanged. The excellent interaction of the Orchestra with the acoustics of the Rundāle Palace White Hall will delight the audience in Joseph Haydn's Symphony No.6 “Le Matin”. This music piece is known for its liveliness and dynamic contrasts, illustrating the dawn of a new day. This work is a testament to Haydn's instrumental genius and promises a captivating symphonic music experience.
Lina Dambrauskaite's vocals will stand out in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's masterful composition “Exsultate, jubilate”, as well as in Franz Schubert's beautiful and emotional songs, such as “Du bist die Ruh”, “Gretchen am Spinnrade” and “Ellen's Gesang (Ave Maria)”.
The audience will also have the opportunity to travel to sunny Italy for a moment, thanks to Franz Schubert's “Overture in the Italian Style”, known for its lyrical melodies and rhythmic vitality, reflecting Italy's rich musical traditions and cultural heritage.
This time, one of the most visible Lithuanian conductors of the new generation - Modestas Barkauskas - will be at the conductor's desk of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 Modestas Barkauskas was acknowledged as the best young artist and awarded with a Golden Stage Cross. Barkauskas also received a high rating in several prestigious conducting competitions, including the prestigious Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors.
The orchestra asks the listeners to take into account that it will not be possible to buy tickets for the concert “Exsultate, Jubilate – the sound of Liepāja in Rundāle palace” on the spot at Rundāle Palace! They are available only at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices.
The Concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the State Cultural Capital Foundation and Zemgale Planning Region.
