On 20 April at 18:00 in the “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall, under the direction of the Polish conductor Tadeusz Wojciechowski the Orchestra will play a concert, where the magical sound of the flute will blend with the power of Antonin Dvořák's symphonic music.
The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra has collaborated with Tadeusz Wojciechowski, a much loved in Latvia and internationally recognized Polish Maestro, many times, the last time was in 2012 at the International Pianism Star Festival, so this will be his debut in the “Great Amber” Concert Hall.
On 20 April the long-awaited return of the Polish Maestro to Liepāja audience will happen in a concert programme, where Stanislav Moniuszko's overture to the first Polish national opera “Halka” and one of the most popular symphonic works by the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, Symphony No.7, will be performed.
This evening the audience will also hear a premiere – a Concert for Flute and Orchestra by the Latvian composer Marina Gribinčika, where Reinis Lapa, the concertmaster of the flute group of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, will take the stage as the soloist.
Tadeusz Wojciechowski. who, by the way, is known as one of the best interpreters of Moniuszko and Dvořák’s music, has gained attention and recognition in Latvia both at the Latvian National Opera performances and at the International Pianism Star Festival organized by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, and also in concerts with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, Charles Gounod's opera “Faust” staged under the direction of Tadeusz Wojciechowski received the Latvian Grand Music Award.
The conductor has won prizes in international competitions and has visited many notable concert halls in most European countries, the USA, Japan, Colombia, Mexico, Turkey; he has made numerous recordings for EMI, Polish Radio and Danish Radio. In 2007, the Maestro received the Gloria Artis Silver Medal for Merit to Culture from the Polish Ministry of Culture and the National Heritage Foundation.
The Maestro has been conducting opera and ballet performances at the Warsaw National Opera already since the 1970s. From 1982 to 1996, he worked as the chief conductor of the Royal Danish Academy Orchestra. In 1994, Mr.Wojciechowski was appointed the artistic director of the Polish Radio Orchestra and Choir.
