Symphonic New Year's Eve Concert is your ticket to sunny Spain

The Liepāja Symphonic New Year's Eve Concert at the end of 2023 will take you on a musical journey to sunny Spain. This year, three holiday concerts are going to be held in the “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall on December 28, 29 and 30 at 19:00.

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of the chief conductor Guntis Kuzma, accompanied by opera singer Marlēna Keine and Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Tkachenko, will play not only fiery and sparkling music by Spanish composers, but also Spanish melodies from the golden repertoire of French composers Maurice Ravel and Georges Bizet.

Marlēna Keine has remarkably presented herself as a versatile and artistically attractive singer in genres like opera and operetta. The artist was engaged in the performances staged by the Estonian National Opera, the Latvian National Opera and the Latvian Operetta Foundation.

Marlēna Keine is a winner of a number of international competitions, she has gained success in vocal competitions in Latvia, Sweden, USA, Estonia, Ukraine, etc.

The charming opera singer will be joined by one of Ukraine's most outstanding soloists, the internationally recognized violinist, the winner of multiple prestigious international competitions, Dmytro Tkachenko. He has performed in the most prestigious concert halls with leading orchestras in most European countries, Japan, China, South Korea and the USA.

The young Latvian cellist Jānis Rinkulis, who won the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra’s Choice Award and 3rd place at the Valdis Vikmanis’ Latvian Young Artist Competition, which was held in spring, will also take the stage at the concert.

The Liepāja Symphonic New Year's Eve Concert has become a beautiful and sparkling tradition at the turn of the year celebrations, and every time the musicians of the orchestra along with the audience go on a journey to a different place: at the end of the year 2021 it was Vienna swept away by aristocratic dances, while last year it was Broadway full of symphonic jazz and musicals. This year the concert will be directed and conducted by Gundars Silakaktiņš once again.

Tickets for the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra concerts can be purchased at “Biļešu paradīze” ticket offices

The Concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, the State Cultural Capital Foundation and Liepāja City.
