THE LIVE BROADCAST WILL BE AVAILABLE HERE!

“Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 is a symbol of hope and enthusiasm that brings the aura of New World’s romanticism, known in literature from James Fenimor Cooper’s novels “The Last of the Mohicans” and “The Deerslayer”, as well as from Goyko Michich’s films about Chingachgook, to the symphonic music field. Appalachian folk melodies and jazz music allusions in a masterful fabric of symphony show us the excitement that interweaved the splendid wild dawn of America. It seems that this symphony was made for the passionate maestro Rinkevičius and the emotionally powerful Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. “An unforgettable adventure is coming! ” says Uldis Lipskis, the director of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, who is looking forward to the next concert of the series “Symphony CLOSER” as well.

The concert series “Symphony CLOSER” is created in order to introduce listeners to the cornerstones of the world’s symphonic repertoire - beautiful, classical symphonies that should be known by everyone. Before the symphony, music reviewer Orests Silabriedis and the conductor of the concert program together reveal the context of the symphony’s creation time and structural details of the masterpiece, but after the symphony is played, Timurs Tomsons, general manager of the Concert Hall “Great Amber”, will hold a conversation, in which specially invited regular listeners of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, who we know as never-absent guests in all orchestra’s concerts, share the experience from their musical adventure.

During the first meeting with the symphony, the listeners were able to enjoy the popular masterpiece of classicism - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, performed by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Guntis Kuzma, while next time the orchestra, conducted by Normunds Šnē, introduced the listeners to the wonderful musical world of the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, by performing his Symphony No. 3, which is full of extraordinary strength and energy. Now these concert recordings are available at “Bilesu Paradize” (ticket price per household - 3 euros).

The final concert of this series will take place on April 9, when you will be able to get closer to Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, which will be interpreted by the erudite professor and conductor Andris Vecumnieks.

The concert series “Symphony CLOSER” was created with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the State Cultural Capital Foundation. The hour-long concert will be available for watching in the webcast mode free of charge both here, in the video gallery of orchestra’s home page, and on orchestra’s Facebook page. After the free live webcast, all concert recordings will be available in “Bilesu Paradize” for a fee.
