From August 5 to 29, the International Chamber Music Festival "Curonian Spit" will take place for the 28th time in Lithuania - Neringa (Nida and Jodkrantė), offering classical and baroque music concerts, as well as educational afternoons in the region's churches and cultural venues.
This year, invitited by the festival's artistic director Roberts Beinaris, the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, led by its principal conductor Guntis Kuzma, will close the festival with a magnificent concert.
On the open-air stage in Jodkrantė, the orchestra will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, as well as one of the most beautiful pearls of Latvian symphonic music – Emīls Dārziņš's Melancholic Waltz.
This year, the festival is dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and at the festival's closing concert, the festival's host himself - the outstanding Lithuanian oboist Roberts Beinaris - will take the stage together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra to perform the sensation of his time - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra.
The culmination of the concert will be the extraordinary concerto for two oboes "Extra (ordinarily) Fancy" by Vietnamese-American composer Viet Coung, where the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and Roberts Beinaris will be joined on stage by oboist Laurinas Beinaris.
