The Rundāle Palace will be filled with the sounds of baroque

On 6 April at 18:00 in the White Hall of the Rundāle Palace a baroque music programme will be performed by the string ensemble conducted by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Līga Baltābola, accompanied by the enthusiastic interpreter of ancient music, harpsichordist Gertruda Jerjomenko.

Rundāle Palace is the most significant Baroque style palace in Latvia and the concert will feature the works of the three most outstanding Baroque music geniuses, such as Jean-Marie Leclair, George Frideric Handel and Antonio Vivaldi, which represent various genres and styles of Baroque music and will fill the architecture of the Baroque era with an authentic and vivid sound.

Līga Baltābola is not only an experienced orchestra musician, but also an excellent chamber musician, who often gets invited to perform as a soloist. Moreover, in the spring of 2022 in Vilnius together with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius, she performed Vox Amoris by Pēteris Vasks, while last year in the White Hall of the Rundāle Palace together with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the conductor Guntis Kuzma she played solo in the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Johannes Brahms.

In the White Hall of the Rundāle Palace Līga Baltābola will be joined by Liepāja Symphony Orchestra musicians Jānis Baltābols (violin), Baiba Lasmane (violin), Zane Baltābola (violin), Annija Elizabete Meija (viola) and Dina Puķīte (cello), as well as harpsichordist Gertruda Jerjomenko.

Gertruda Jerjomenko is the “Grand Music Award 2018” nominee in the category “Young Musician of the Year”. According to her, in Latvia she feels special, because there are not that many solo harpsichordists here: “I want to travel, play concerts, engage the audience and encourage them to listen to ancient music – it's more of a mission-like feeling.”

The Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and its musicians are frequent guests at the Rundāle Palace, and last December music lovers were delighted by the classical programme "Exsultate, jubilate" conducted by the Lithuanian conductor Modestas Barkauskas together with the Lithuanian soprano Lina Dambrauskaite.

The Orchestra asks the audience to note that the tickets for the concert “Geniuses of Baroque Music” will not be sold on-site at the Rundāle Palace. They are available only at "Bilešu Paradīze" ticket offices and online.

The Concert is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia.
