The unique amber sound of the Orchestra has originated in a unique place at the Baltic Sea – in Liepāja.
On 6 May, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will go to Klaipeda where it has been invited to open the Klaipeda International Cello Festival together with such outstanding musicians as Gil Shohat, David Geringas, Natalie Clein and Hillel Zori.
The Klaipeda International Cello Festival opening concert will be dedicated to the memory of Lithuanian Jews – Liepāja Symphony Orchestra and famous cellists will perform music by Anatoly Shenderov, Ernest Bloh and Gil Shohat under the baton of Gil Shohat.
Liepāja Symphony Orchestra has played with two of the mentioned musicians before. In 2017, at the 25th Liepāja International Stars Festival at Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” it was with the legendary cellist (and conductor) David Geringas. Whereas with one of the most famous Israeli musicians – pianist, conductor and composer Gil Shohat – Liepāja Symphony Orchestra played in 2012 at the “Vienna Classics” festival.
