The unique amber sound of the Orchestra has originated in a unique place at the Baltic Sea – in Liepāja.
The 28th Liepāja International Stars Festival, traditionally taking place in March, will have its first concert on 2 December at 6 p.m. in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” and feature Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under conductor Gintaras Rinkevicius performing together with Gidon Kremer – one of the world’s leading violinists. Kremer’s stage partners will be cellist Giedre Dirvanauskaite and pianist Georgijs Osokins. The musicians will offer to the audience the beautiful, sublime Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano by Ludwig van Beethoven as well as the Fourth Symphony by the genius of Romantic period – Johannes Brahms.
On 29 December at 6 p.m. and on 30 December at 7 p.m. in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER”, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra will perform magnificent concerts in celebration of New Year’s Eve. Aminata, Dināra Rundāne, Ralfs Eilands and the orchestra under the baton of Jānis Ivuškāns will play world-renowned film music in jazzy moods. The concert will feature popular melodies from such movies as The Star is Born, Skyfall, Moulin Rouge, The Bodyguard and many others. In films they are performed by Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, Adele, Nicole Kidman, Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake, Queen, Aerosmith, and other stars. Gundars Silakaktiņš will be the concert director.
