The unique amber sound of the Orchestra has originated in a unique place at the Baltic Sea – in Liepāja.
On 14 September at 6 p.m. in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” a unique musical event will take place – French hornists of all leading Latvian orchestras will perform on one stage in a very special concert programme. The concert conférencier will be Ivars Ījabs.
“A true festivity of French hornists in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” – rarely to be experienced,” is a short comment by Uldis Lipskis, manager of Liepāja Symphony Orchestra.
The concert programme played by French horns will present music of all times – from Baroque to film music and jazz (Eugène Bozza, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Johannes Brahms, Ennio Morricone, Freddie Mercury, Roger Harvey, David Arnold, and other composers). Musicians will perform in various groups, the largest of which will be conducted by Guntis Kuzma.
The concert will feature musicians from Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, as well as from Chamber Orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga” and Wind Orchestra “Rīga”. Among them will also be the Liepāja French Horn Quartet – the only active French hornists’ quartet who are the musicians of Liepāja Symphony Orchestra Edgars Kalniņš, Aivars Vadonis, Mārcis Auziņš, and the initiator of this concert Ingus Novicāns – an experienced principal French horn player who is celebrating his 50th anniversary this year.
For the purpose of a richer sound, friends have been invited to join – rhythm group and a pianist, and concert presenter Ivars Ījabs, who has been a French hornist in Liepāja Symphony Orchestra before he turned to politology.
Tickets to the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra concerts can be purchased in all Box-Offices of “Biļešu paradise” and at www.bilesuparadize.lv.
