Maija Kovaļevska’s debut solo album recorded with LSO

On Saturday, 21 September in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER”, right after the opening concert of Liepāja Symphony Orchestra 139th concert season (at about 7.45 p.m.), there will be a presentation of the album MAJESTY of the outstanding Latvian opera singer Maija Kovaļevska.

A day before, on the 20th of September, the USA record label “Odradek Records” officially released the first solo album of our internationally renowned opera singer soprano Maija Kovaļevska, recorded last summer in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” with Liepāja Symphony Orchestra under Atvars Lakstīgala.

“Our collaboration with Maija Kovaļevska is a success story of Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. It is a great pleasure to play with such an exceptional artist and I very much appreciate that she chose our orchestra to record her debut solo album. I am sure that our creative work will reach global audience,” says Uldis Lipskis, manager of Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, adding, “It is an even greater pleasure to celebrate the release of the album on our diva’s birthday!”

The new solo album “Majesty” includes arias from such well-known operas as “Orpheus and Eurydice” by Christoph Willibald Von Gluck, “Don Giovanni” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “La Bohème”, “Manon Lescaut”, “Le Villi. Gianni Schicchi” and “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini, “Thais” by Jules Massenet, as well as “Yolanta” and “Eugene Onegin” by Peter Tchaikovsky.

Record label “Odradek Records” has already released a number of albums recorded by Liepāja Symphony Orchestra: “Kurland Sounds” with music by Latvian composers, recordings of the 20th century music with famous Italian pianist Pina Napolitano, as well as the double album of Liepāja concert series comprising concerts written by Rihards Dubra, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Vilnis Šmīdbergs, Juris Karlsons and Kārlis Lācis.

The concert audience will be able to purchase the new album, to obtain autographs of the distinguished singer and the conductor, and be photographed with them.
