The unique amber sound of the Orchestra has originated in a unique place at the Baltic Sea – in Liepāja.

Photography exhibiotion devoted to The Stars Festival

On Tuesday, 5 March at 5 p.m. in the gallery of the first floor of Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER”, the opening of photography exhibition “Stars in Amber” by photographer Jānis Vecbrālis will take place. Black and white photos of the exhibition perpetuate the brightest “stars” of concerts of Liepāja International Stars Festival in 2016-2018.

“I have been taking photos of the Festival concerts for eight years and have got an impressive collection of pictures. It was not easy to select photos for the exhibition from the voluminous collection. Therefore, together with Liepāja Symphony Orchestra director Uldis Lipskis we decided to show the Festival in its so called “GREAT AMBER” period, when the festival was taking place under the roof of the new Liepāja Concert Hall. After a long search in photo archives I and Uldis chose the images of the “stars”, which convey the essence of the last three-year existence of the festival”, tells the photographer. "We chose black and white photos because they better reflect the emotions of the musicians on the stage."

The exhibition comprises 23 big-size portraits of the “key” musicians or “stars” of the festival. The photographer has chosen to display black and white photos as they best reflect the emotions of the musicians on the stage.

Experienced master of photography Jānis Vecbrālis has promoted Liepāja Symphony Orchestra not only in Latvia but also in Israel. A collection of his photos under the title See the Music won wide acclaim, was presented in Latvia in 15 venues and in 2018 ‒ in Haifa, Israel.

The exhibition is free and will be on display on the first floor of “GREAT AMBER” from 5 March to 14 April, on work days and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
