The unique amber sound of the Orchestra has originated in a unique place at the Baltic Sea – in Liepāja.
Pēteris Vasks’ anniversary concert on 21 October in Liepāja Concert Hall “GREAT AMBER” will feature a special guest – Russian violinist SERGEY DOGADIN, laureate of numerous prestigious competitions and awards, who won the main prize of 50 000 EUR at Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Hannover, Germany, last year, and this September received 50 000 USD being the second prize winner in Shanghai Isaak Stern International Violin Competition in China.
Sergey Dogadin was born in 1988 into a family of well-known musicians. In 2012, he graduated from St. Petersburg Conservatory. From 2013 – 2015 he studied at the High School of Music in Cologne and at the University of Music in Graz. Currently he continues his studies at the Vienna Conservatory with Professor Boris Kuschnir. The 28-year-old Russian violinist has won first prizes at more than ten international competitions – among them is the 1st prize at Niccolo Paganini International Violin Competition in 2005 in Moscow and the highest prize (50 000 USD) at Joseph Joachim Violin Competition in Hannover in 2015. His recent achievement is the second prize of 50 000 USD at Shanghai Isaak Stern International Violin Competition in China, the violin competition with the biggest fund of monetary awards in the world.
The young violin virtuoso has performed in such countries as Azerbaijan, Baltics, China, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Moldova, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the USA. He has given concerts at world’s most renowned concert halls and collaborated with a number of prominent symphony orchestras and conductors.
On several occasions Sergey Dogadin had an honour of performing on Nicolo Paganini’s and Johann Strauss’s violin.
At Pēteris Vasks’ anniversary concert on 21 October at 7 p.m. at the Concert hall “GRET AMBER” Sergey Dogadin and Liepāja Symphony Orchestra conducted by Atvars Lakstīgala will play the post-Romantic music classic – Violin Concerto of Jean Sibelius, Finnish master of composition.
